Is consciousness proof of superiority?

From trees viewpoint, instead of "I think, therefore I exist", it may very well the opposite: "I exist, therefore I think". It seems that there are various degrees of consciousness, but so far humans could not imagine or comprehend how plants may have developed consciousness. Just the fact that plants have been evolving for at least 500 million years, while humankind is about 50,000 years, is a strong indication that they clearly operate on another realm. Plants, and especially trees, do have a different form of intelligence, which probably one day will be recognizable and studied, for mutual benefits with humankind.
